What we loved

Staff was top-notch, including Emily at check-in.
Booked a superior room & was upgraded to a premier room.
Welcome amenity, fruit basket & sparking water, in the room upon arrival.
⁠In-room Nespresso, kettle, bottled water, robes and slippers.
I had the best massage at the spa, highly recommend.
Nice gym & pool area, which has cabanas.

What we did not like

⁠The bed is very firm, not the usual 'envelope you' mattress that we've come to love at other Four Seasons stays. We had to requested a 2nd mattress pad added prior to our first night as we were both unable to sleep.
The room has old amenities turn dial temperature control, manual shades, and no bathroom night light.
Sliding door bathroom, with a frosted sliding door separating the toilet, maybe a privacy issue for some.
Requested items via app & only some were brought up.
Hotel is in a residential part of town, not close to many tourist friendly activities, especially if you do not have a rental car.

Verdict

Booked a 3rd night free birthday stay at the Four Seasons Palo Alto. While the staff was exceptional & breakfast was phenomenal, I would not return until the property did a renovation & modernized the standard room similar to the May 2024 renovation of their suites.
